An award-winning multi-span girder bridge with a cast-in-place deck and operable double-leaf bascule spans at the main channel, replacing the 1958 SR-5 / US-1 crossing over the Loxahatchee River and Intracoastal Waterway.

The new twin drawbridge carries two lanes in each direction with dedicated bicycle lanes and sidewalks, a quieter concrete deck, a new control tower, and pedestrian overlooks—raising channel clearance to about 42 feet and widening the navigable opening to 125 feet.

Scope included design and documentation of the control tower, multimodal paths, multi-span structure, and bridge components. The result is a refined civic crossing that joins traffic, marine navigation, and the waterfront path in one durable piece of infrastructure.
